Week 7 Prompt

There have been many times when a book or author made headlines that affected me personally and even affected my work. One example is JK Rowling and her making headlines as someone who is anti-trans and homophobic. Her headlines for her negative comments towards the trans community affected me personally and my opinion on reading her novels or even recommending them to other people interested in magic or fantasy novels. There have also been times when authors like Colleen Hoover made headlines as being “all the rage” and creating a lot of popularity for themself. This affected my work because many teens were looking for her novels and we had to request them or purchase more since she was making headlines on social media as “the'' author of the time. Author headlines and popularity can determine my own personal reading preferences and the preferences of ordering and collections in my library that I work in. We live in a technology and social media driven world, so oftentimes, this dictates the kind of books and reviews and coverage that a certain author or book or genre receives from the public. My TBR is ever growing and so are the library collections requests!
